Why Testing Matters

Research conclusions are only as reliable as the material behind them. A peptide that is mislabelled, under-pure, or contaminated can quietly undermine an experiment long before anyone questions the data. Independent testing exists to close that gap: it separates what a label states from what has actually been verified, and it gives researchers a documented basis for treating a compound as what it claims to be.

What This Section Covers

HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography)

HPLC separates the components of a sample and reports the proportion made up by the main peak, expressed as a purity percentage. It is the standard method for quantifying how pure a peptide batch is, though on its own it cannot confirm exactly what the main peak is. Mass Spectrometry

Mass spectrometry measures the mass-to-charge ratio of the molecules in a sample and compares it against the expected molecular weight of the intended compound. Certificates of Analysis (COAs)

A COA documents the specific results of testing carried out on a specific batch: identity, purity, batch number, date of analysis, and the issuing laboratory. Not all COAs carry equal weight — a certificate issued by the manufacturer itself is a different document from one issued by an independent third-party lab. Endotoxin Testing

For peptides intended for cell-based or in-vivo research models, purity and identity are not the only relevant safeguards. Endotoxin contamination can interfere with biological assays even in an otherwise high-purity sample, which is why endotoxin testing is treated as a separate analytical step for these applications. Batch Traceability

A COA is only meaningful if it can be tied to the specific material in your hands. That means checking that the batch or lot number on the certificate matches the vial received, and that the date of analysis reflects the batch currently in stock rather than an earlier one.
